A DIFFERENT KIND OF LONELINESS

August 16th, 2020

Words & Artwork by Marianna Asimakopoulou

In this series, I explored the loneliness I felt by taking pictures of a once joyful college town that has completely changed due to the pandemic. Loneliness is something I have been experiencing to different extents since I moved to America for college about seven months ago, and I tried to capture that feeling by showing the emptiness and stillness around me. Before the pandemic I often felt lonely in this place even though it was full of people, chatter and laughter, but since then I have felt like I am experiencing a different kind of loneliness in a different place.
